This is the crux of the PLEC collection—furniture conceived with a broad perspective but brought to life using locally sourced and environmentally conscious materials, supporting the economies where Roche’s workspaces stand.
The PLEC program is ; a blueprint for the future of design: construction drawings and design specifications in digital format are distributed anywhere in the world so the pieces can be locally manufactured with standard techniques.
The collection represents a bold step in the direction of what Roche envisions for tomorrow. The design’s appeal lies in its ability to dematerialize—transforming raw materials into a variety of pieces that breathe a casual youthfulness into workspaces. It’s made up of a series of planes and folds, where colour and texture play with light and shadow to break geometries into functional, lighter surfaces. It’s a fresh intersection between sophistication and warm, while combining Roche’s reduced design with a sustainable approach.
The process of working with Roche was really interesting because apart from this very strong point of sustainability, there is also a more conceptual approach... In the design of the PLEC, there is a conscious effort to strip down to the essentials, honouring the raw and spartan ethos, but the simplicity of this approach doesn't compromise on function; the different modules offer a variety of work settings, enabling multiple interactions and work styles..

Through PLEC, Roche has articulated a language of design that is as global in its reach as it is local in its touch. It’s a collection that doesn’t shout but asserts itself through timeless simplicity.
